Meet Ken Bell – Our DIY-Superhero Managing Director!
At 1Let, we’re all about the amazing people who keep things running smoothly every day—and our Managing Director, Ken Bell, is no exception!
Ken joined the team way back in 2008 as a Property Manager, fresh from completing his MSc in Urban Real Estate Management and Development. Since then, he’s taken on just about every role you can imagine—Lettings Manager, Lettings Director, Sales Director—you name it. Fast forward to 2021, and Ken took the ultimate leap by acquiring 1Let, becoming our fearless leader (cape not included).
With over 15 years in the property industry, Ken is all about helping people—whether it’s guiding landlords to make smart investments, matching tenants with dream homes, or mentoring the team to grow their skills like pros. Taking over the company wasn’t without its nail-biting moments, though—remortgaging his family home took serious guts. But Ken knew it was the right move, and looking back, he’s thrilled he took the plunge.
Ken believes property management isn’t just about bricks and mortar—it’s about people. A great landlord or agent excels at matching the right property with the perfect tenant. He’s passionate about changing the narrative around landlords, pointing out that most are genuinely dedicated to providing quality homes, despite how the media often portrays them.
When Ken isn’t leading the charge at 1Let, you’ll probably find him on some wild adventure. Whether he’s mountain biking, fixing up cars, or exploring in his campervan, Ken’s always on the go. One unforgettable moment? Helping his nine-year-old daughter, Isla, catch a shark off the coast of Arisaig! And if something breaks (be it a car, a gadget, or a tent pole), you can bet Ken’s already halfway through fixing it.
Oh, and fun fact? Ken once tried his hand at being a butcher straight out of school—but let’s just say that career was a cut too far (he lasted a week). If he hadn’t found his calling in property, he reckons he’d be an engineer of some sort—building, fixing, and problem-solving is just in his DNA.
When it comes to camping, Ken keeps it simple with steak cooked over an open fire—no disasters yet, touch wood! He’s a coffee-over-tea guy, a definite dog lover, and very much a morning person. Dream holiday? Ko Lanta, a stunning island off Thailand. Guilty pleasure TV show? "Married at First Sight"—because who doesn’t love a bit of reality TV drama?
Ken’s leadership, adventurous spirit, and down-to-earth attitude make him a real gem at 1Let. We couldn’t be prouder to have him steering the ship (or maybe the campervan)!
