You will recognize her as the usual author of our Meet the Team Blog posts, always shining a light on other team members. Now it’s finally time to meet the kind face behind all those kind words – our Head of Property Management, Rosalind Johnson.
Rosalind has been working in the lettings industry since 2014. After graduating from Edinburgh University she started a job with a UK wide lettings agency and has been working her way up the property management career ladder ever since. In 2022, a choir friend then told her about a maternity cover role opening up at 1Let, which quickly turned into a permanent role, and the rest is 1Let History.
Organisation, Dedication, and Hard Work
As the Head of Property Management, Rosalind is working on all the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the Property Management Team running smoothly. Part of the charm of this role for her is having a to-do list and to always have something to move on to. She would rather be busy than be bored and looks forward to a full inbox in the morning!
Whenever she is not organising team training sessions, or manages our contractor relationships, you can find her enjoying lunch with the team and planning 1Let meet-ups outside of work. She is the brains behind Thirsty Thursdays, our potluck lunches, and occasional cinema nights (and much appreciated for it by the others).
Our Lettings & Business Development Manager Tina noted that “Rosalind is dedicated and organised in both her personal and work life – always puts in 110% to anything she does! She is one of the most thoughtful and empathetic people I know and will always be someone who I can go to about anything.”
If the core of 1Let is the team, the core of the team is Rosalind. Everyone from the Property Management Team to the Lettings Team to our Finance and Compliance Team knows they can rely on Rosalind’s experience and calm leadership. Our Finance and Compliance Administrators especially value that Rosalind is “caring and always willing to listen” and always puts emphasis on creating a harmonious environment among the teams.
Rosalind likes to know what makes the team tick, learn how she can support them, and seeing them grow. The consensus from the PM team is that she is “kind and understanding, always has an open ear, willing to lend a hand, and has words of wisdom aplenty”.
Music, Family, Friends – what makes Rosalind
When she’s not at work, music is a big part of her life and Rosalind spends lots of time with her choir. When asked about which song makes her feel like the main character in a movie, she said “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall, especially after seeing KT live last year and even catching her guitar pick when she threw it into the audience. Rosalind explained that this song makes her think of the opening sequence in the film The Devil Wears Prada, giving her 'main character starting a new chapter' energy.
And she is certainly starting a new chapter in her life after recently getting engaged and we couldn’t be happier for her - congratulations!
On the weekends, Rosalind and her fiancé love to go to the beach for a dog walk in the afternoon with her curly and cuddly dog Mara – Yellowcraigs at North Berwick is a favourite. Alongside being a great work mum, she’s an even better dog mum!
And although she keeps her weekends busy directing a choir and working on “life admin spreadsheets”, she often tries to make time for a glass of wine at home or at a local pub with friends, frequenting Leith’s cafés and restaurants, or just lounging on the sofa catching up with TV shows.
The whole team is grateful to have Rosalind at 1Let, always having our backs, and being a steady shoulder to lean on. We don't know what we would do without her!
